Mercedes-Benz is gearing up to launch its most expensive electric vehicle in India—the G-Wagon Electric SUV—on January 9, 2024. Based on the iconic G-Class SUV, the electric G-Wagon was first unveiled as the EQG concept at CES 2023 in Las Vegas.

This flagship model, built on the robust G 580 variant, features a ladder-frame chassis and is expected to be priced at over ₹3 crore. With limited units to be sold each year, the electric G-Wagon will be imported as a Completely-Built Unit (CBU).

Here’s what to expect in Mercedes G-Wagon electric SUV

Power and Performance of the Mercedes EQG

The Mercedes G-Wagon Electric SUV is equipped with a powerful 116kWh battery pack, offering a range of over 470 km on a single charge. Thanks to its 200kW fast-charging capacity, the battery can recharge from 10% to 80% in just 30 minutes. For more convenient home charging, the car is also compatible with 11kW chargers.

Under the hood, the electric G-Class boasts four electric motors, each powering one wheel for an impressive 579 bhp and 1,164 Nm of peak torque. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in under five seconds, with an electronically limited top speed of 180 km/h. The all-wheel-drive system ensures it maintains the legendary off-road capabilities of the G-Class.

Luxury and Technology Inside the G-Wagon

The interior of the G-Wagon Electric SUV promises premium luxury with features like a dual 12.3-inch infotainment system, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility, a Burmester sound system, rear entertainment screens, and advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) including a 360-degree camera.
