The interior of the SL takes inspiration from Mercedes’ recent models, showcasing an 11.9-inch vertically oriented touchscreen with adjustable angles, running the latest generation of the MBUX operating system. Accompanied by a 12.3-inch LCD driver display and an optional heads-up display, the touchscreen offers various display modes, including bespoke AMG and soft-top modes. Additional features include a Burmester sound system, an Airscarf function to combat buffeting, and the optional AMG Track Pace program, which records extensive data while on the track.
One of the notable highlights of the new SL is its triple-layer fabric roof, providing a weight reduction of 21kg compared to its predecessor’s metal roof. Operated via a switch on the center console or the infotainment display, the roof can be opened or closed within 16 seconds at speeds of up to 60kph. Available in Black, Dark red, and Grey, the fabric roof offers three color options.
In terms of dimensions, the SL 55 measures 4,705mm in length, 1,915mm in width, and 1,359mm in height, featuring an extended wheelbase of 2,700mm to accommodate the new rear seats. Noteworthy design elements encompass the prominent Panamericana front grille, angular LED headlights, a lengthy bonnet with power domes, a raked windscreen, quad exhausts, and 20-inch alloy wheels as the standard option. Buyers also have the choice to upgrade to larger 21-inch alloys with a distinct design.
