McLaren has been making supercar upgrades consistently. Upon closer inspection, the cars appear to have improved from the previous model. With the release of the new W1, the British performance vehicle manufacturer has broken that trend and introduced something wholly different. Before diving into the specifics of the new performance machine, it is important to remember that W1 is extremely rare—only 399 will ever be produced.
McLaren W1 features
The McLaren W1 features an entirely twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 engine which is packed with power. To put it into numerical form, the 8-cylinder engine produces 916 horsepower and can reach a maximum rev of 9200 rpm. With the help of an electric system that increases power by 324 horsepower, the total output is recorded at 1353 Nm and 1258 horsepower.
The 1.4kWh battery powers the electric motors. The Level 2 onboard charger, according to the British manufacturer, can charge a battery from zero to eighty percent in 22 minutes. This electric system can supply the car with a driving range of more than 3 kilometers because its entire design is focused on performance.
The McLaren W1’s cabin has two seats. Because the seats are built into the monocoque chassis, their position is fixed. However, the driver can change the pedal position for more comfort.
The W1 has 15.4-inch carbon-ceramic braking rotors on all four wheels. Forged monoblock six-piston callipers grab the front discs, while four-piston units grasp the rear discs.
