McLaren is set to unveil the next model in its Ultimate Series of hypercars on October 6, just over a decade after the P1 was introduced as the successor to the classic F1. The company released a video featuring these two renowned hypercars, revealing that “the next benchmark” is on its way.
The new car is expected to make use of electrification advancements since the P1’s introduction 12 years ago. McLaren has said on many occasions that a generational shift in technology is required to justify a new ‘1’ car.
The next “1” hypercar from McLaren is expected to have a high-output hybrid powertrain that can easily outperform the 916 horsepower P1, even though a pure-electric version is still a few years away.
It will most likely have an all-new V8 engine that is completely unrelated to the one used in McLaren’s current lineup, as well as a next-generation hybrid system. Power figures are expected to exceed 1,000 horsepower.
