Ahmedabad-based startup, Matter, is making waves in the electric vehicle market with its highly anticipated debut product, the Aera e-bike. The company has announced that the Aera has already received an impressive 40,000 pre-bookings. Potential buyers can secure their Aera electric bike by pre-booking through the Matter website or via Flipkart.
The Aera e-bike comes in two variants, both equipped with a powerful liquid-cooled, 5kWh battery boasting a real-world range of approximately 125km. The Aera’s motor is also liquid-cooled and offers a claimed peak power output of 10.5kW. Weighing around 40kg, the battery complements the Aera’s overall weight of approximately 180kg. What sets the Aera apart is its unique feature as the first electric bike to incorporate a 4-speed gearbox, allowing for a dynamic riding experience. Matter claims that the Aera can accelerate from 0 to 60kph in less than 6 seconds, showcasing its impressive performance capabilities.
Recently, Matter announced a significant price hike for the Aera e-bike due to a reduction in the FAME-II subsidy. The Aera is currently available in two variants, the 5000 and the 5000+, with revised prices of Rs 1.74 lakh and Rs 1.84 lakh, respectively. Despite the price increase, the Aera’s pre-bookings have remained strong, indicating the high demand and consumer interest in this innovative electric bike.
