The Maruti Suzuki Swift remains one of India’s most popular hatchbacks and sales have surpassed 30 lakh units.
The fourth-generation Maruti Suzuki Swift, which went on sale earlier this year, is the reason behind the figure. When the first-generation model was introduced in 2005, the company saw immediate success. Additionally, the Swift has surpassed the legendary Maruti 800’s 26.6 lakh lifetime sales in India with this new sales milestone.
Maruti Suzuki launched a new segment with the Swift, which debuted in May 2005. The firm reached the 10 lakh sales level in November 2013 and the 20 lakh sales milestone in November 2018. The following ten lakh units were sold in 6.5 years. It is worth noting that vehicle sales have slowed over the last half-decade due to the pandemic, supply-chain constraints and other factors.
Partho Banerjee, Senior Executive Officer, Marketing & Sales, Maruti Suzuki India Limited, said in a statement, “The Swift has been more than just a car to the millions who have owned it – it has been a symbol of fun, freedom and exhilaration. With each new generation, the Swift has continued to raise the bar, offering cutting-edge technology, contemporary style, and that unmistakable ‘Swift DNA’ which continues to captivate customers. This accomplishment fills us with immense gratitude, and we are thankful to all Swift owners across the country.”
