Maruti Suzuki, the renowned carmaker, is set to launch its upcoming Invicto MPV, confirming that bookings will begin on June 19. This vehicle marks Maruti’s foray into the premium segment, with a price tag exceeding Rs 20 lakh.
The Invicto is a badge-engineered version of the Toyota Innova Hycross, and it will be Maruti’s third MPV offering, joining the ranks of the popular Ertiga and XL6 models. With the launch of the Invicto, Maruti aims to cater to customers seeking a premium three-row experience and enhance its brand image in the competitive SUV and MPV market.
Maruti Suzuki recognizes the evolving customer preferences and the blurred lines between SUVs and MPVs in the Rs 20 lakh-plus segment. Shashank Srivastava, executive director at Maruti Suzuki, emphasizes the demand for a premium, three-row vehicle in this category.
The Invicto positions itself as a premium choice that fulfills the requirements and aspirations of customers in terms of space, features, and driving experience. Maruti expects the Invicto to attract buyers who desire a premium MPV with SUV-like attributes.
Given the shared platform and components, the Maruti Invicto is expected to be priced slightly higher than the equivalent Innova Hycross variant. The Innova Hycross petrol variants are currently priced between Rs 18.55 lakh and Rs 19.45 lakh, while the strong hybrid variants range from Rs 25.03 lakh to Rs 29.99 lakh.
Maruti has confirmed that the Invicto will feature the Hycross’ 183hp, 2.0-litre strong-hybrid powertrain coupled with an e-CVT transmission. Additionally, the entry-level trims are expected to offer the 173hp, 2.0-litre petrol unit mated to a CVT transmission.
Notably, the Invicto will be the first Maruti model to exclusively offer automatic gearboxes across its range. Spy shots of the Invicto reveal distinctive cosmetic enhancements, setting it apart from its Toyota sibling and showcasing its updated design.
