India’s largest carmaker, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd, announced a price reduction of ₹5,000 on its Auto Gear Shift (AGS) variants across multiple models starting June 1, 2024.
The affected models include the Alto K10, S-Presso, Celerio, Wagon-R, Swift, Dzire, Baleno, Fronx, and Ignis. This price reduction is effective immediately, according to a regulatory filing by Maruti Suzuki.
Earlier in April, Maruti Suzuki had raised prices for the Swift by up to ₹25,000 and the Grand Vitara Sigma variant by ₹19,000 due to rising commodity prices. The company had also increased prices across its range by 0.45% earlier this year, citing inflation and higher costs of materials.
Maruti Suzuki operates three manufacturing plants in India. The Gurugram plant in Haryana has a capacity of 7 lakh units per year, while the Hansalpur plant in Gujarat can produce 7.5 lakh units per year.
