Maruti Suzuki has crossed a significant milestone by exporting over 30 lakh cars from its manufacturing facilities in India to markets abroad. The landmark shipment, part of a consignment of 1,053 units, included popular models like Celerio, Fronx, Baleno, Ciaz, Dzire, and S-Presso.
The company began its export journey in 1986 with a shipment of 500 units to Hungary. It reached the 10-lakh export milestone in FY2012-13, followed by 20 lakh units in FY2020-21. The latest 10 lakh units were achieved in a record time of three years and nine months.
Maruti Suzuki’s vehicles are now sold in key international markets, including Africa, Asia, Latin America, and West Asia, under the Suzuki badge. Models like the Grand Vitara, Jimny, and Fronx have bolstered exports, with the Fronx recently making its debut in Japan.
Takeuchi, Managing Director & CEO, announced plans to ramp up exports to 7.5 lakh units by 2030-31, reflecting a threefold growth from four years ago. This milestone underscores Maruti Suzuki’s commitment to expanding its global footprint.
