Indian automaker Mahindra is gearing up to unveil the 5-door version of its popular Thar SUV at its annual Independence Day event.
This marks the fourth consecutive year in which Mahindra will introduce a new product on August 15. The Thar 5-door is expected to target a wider audience by offering a tough and versatile SUV with added comfort and practicality for families.
The South Africa unveiling is significant as the country is expected to be one of the global markets for the Thar. Mahindra has seen growing business in South Africa and aims to expand its SUV lineup in the region.
The 5-door Thar will feature larger engines and dimensions compared to its competitor, the Maruti Suzuki Jimny. It is set to launch in India in 2024, according to Rajesh Jejurikar, Executive Director and CEO of Mahindra and Mahindra Ltd.
