By 2030, Mahindra plans to introduce up to nine new SUVs with internal combustion engines. In the same period, the company also announced that it would launch seven brand-new electric cars into the Indian market. Six of the nine new ICE models will be brand-new SUVs, while three will be mid-cycle upgrades for current models (such as the newly released XUV 3XO).

The automaker has been adding new SUVs to its vast lineup every few months in India. The most recent addition is the XUV 3XO, delivery of which will begin on May 26.

Despite investing heavily in the future born-EV lineup, Mahindra has not lost sight of its main SUV models. Autocar India reported late last year on the brand’s big plans to expand its internal combustion engine-powered SUV lineup.

The first of Mahindra’s six brand-new SUVs to be released is the much-awaited Thar 5-door, which is probably going to be called the Thar Armada. The Thar 5-door will share much of the same underpinnings and powertrains as the Scorpio N and Thar 3-door. It might get up to three engine choices.

The homegrown automaker is investing heavily in its upcoming born-EV lineup. In India, Mahindra plans to introduce born-EV SUVs based on the INGLO platform by the end of this year or early next year. The previously revealed models, such as the Mahindra XUV.e8, XUV.e9 coupe and BE.05 SUV, will be among the first cars from the company’s born-EV lineup to go on sale.
