On August 10, Indian automaker Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) announced in a regulatory filing that it was recalling 29,878 units of its pick up vehicles made between January 2020 to February 2021 to replace faulty fluid pipe amid suspicion of improper assembly.

The company added, “The inspection and subsequent rectification will be carried out free of cost for all customers, who will be individually contacted by the company. In an endeavour to ensure a hassle-free experience for its customers, the company is proactively carrying out this activity.”

Furthermore, M&M has a target of launching 23 products, including SUVs, electric vehicles (EVs) and commercial vehicles in India by 2026. The multinational automotive company is also looking for leadership in the auto sector.

In July, the automaker had announced to undertake a proactive inspection alongside replacing diesel engines in some of its vehicles manufactured at Nashik factory for suspicion of premature wear of engine parts caused by contaminated fuel that the factory had received on a particular date and was filled in the select batch.

However, the exercise was limited to a batch of fewer than 600 vehicles manufactured between June 21 and July 2 this year.

In February, the auto major recalled 1,577 units of its SUV Thar with a diesel power train for the replacement of a faulty engine part called camshaft.
