Mahindra has released the price for its 4×4 Thar Roxx models. The MX5 MT starts at Rs 18.79 lakh, while the AX7 L AT costs Rs 22.49 lakh. The diesel engine is the only one that offers the 4×4 configuration; the petrol engine only comes with a 4×2 setup.
The 4×2 models of the Thar Roxx were priced between Rs 12.99 lakh and Rs 20.49 lakh last month. This indicates that the 4×4 models are priced between Rs 1.8 and Rs 2 lakh more than the equivalent 4×2 variants, yet they have the same safety package and features aside from the 4×4 technology.
Mahindra is providing the Thar Roxx 4×4 with a single 2.2-litre diesel engine producing 175hp and 370Nm of maximum torque. The 152 horsepower and 330 Nm versions of this engine power the diesel 4×2 models. The Mahindra ‘4XPLOR System’, which comes with an electronic locking differential and three terrain modes (Snow, Sand and Mud), has been added to the five-door SUV.
Furthermore, ‘Smart Crawl’ and ‘Intelliturn’ features are included in 4×4 models. The former is an off-road cruise control system that may be activated between 2.5kph and 30kph. The latter enables the Roxx to perform exceptionally tight turns by locking the rear inner tyre according to the steering direction.
