Mahindra introduced the Bolero Neo to the Indian market in 2021, offering a rugged SUV starting at Rs 9.63 lakh (ex-showroom). Now, Mahindra is expanding the Bolero lineup with the forthcoming launch of the Bolero Neo Plus. This article provides insights into the expected features, design, and engine specifications of the Bolero Neo Plus, offering readers a glimpse of what to anticipate from this new variant.

Engine and Transmission:
The Bolero Neo Plus is anticipated to share its drivetrain with the Bolero Neo, featuring a 1.5-litre diesel engine that generates 100bhp, mated to a five-speed manual gearbox. While it is unlikely to have four-wheel drive (4WD), the larger variant might incorporate a mechanical locking differential, similar to its smaller counterpart, to enhance performance and traction in challenging conditions.

Design:
Taking inspiration from the Bolero Neo, the Bolero Neo Plus is expected to exhibit similar design cues. Spy photos indicate a sculpted front bumper, a chrome-finished grille that exudes a commanding presence, and black shoulder panelling extending along the length of the SUV. The 15-inch alloy wheels are likely to be carried over from the Bolero Neo Regular and Bolero Neo Plus, although the blacked-out B- and C-pillars may not be present on the larger variant.

In terms of rear design, the Bolero Neo Plus is projected to display noticeable distinctions from the Bolero Neo. Modified rear bumpers and reprofiled taillamps are expected, while the signature ‘X’-shaped spare wheel mounted on the tailboard will be retained.

Interior:
The Bolero Neo Plus is anticipated to offer two seating configurations and five variations, including a seven-seater model and an ambulance variant equipped with a stretcher. The seven-seater variants are likely to feature forward-facing bench seats in the second and third rows, while the nine-seater variant may have rear seats facing the side.

Features:
Compared to the Bolero Neo, the Bolero Neo Plus is expected to come with additional features. Mahindra might enhance the offerings by incorporating more airbags and connected car technology. The existing features from the Bolero Neo, such as a touchscreen infotainment system, cruise control, reverse parking camera, rear parking sensors, adjustable driver’s seat, and electrically adjustable ORVMs, are expected to be retained.

Expected Pricing:
Positioned above the Bolero Neo, the Bolero Neo Plus is likely to carry a price tag approximately Rs 1 lakh higher than its sibling. While the Bolero Neo is priced between Rs 9.48 lakh and Rs 11.99 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), the Neo Plus is expected to carve out its own segment without direct competitors. The Bolero Neo Plus is set to be available in the market in the upcoming months, presenting customers with an enticing option in Mahindra’s lineup of ladder-frame SUVs.
