Mahindra has announced that its highly anticipated BE 6e electric SUV, unveiled recently and priced competitively from Rs 18.90 lakh (ex-showroom, India), will temporarily carry the name Mahindra BE 6. This change follows a trademark dispute with InterGlobe Aviation Limited, the operator of IndiGo Airlines, over the use of the “6e” moniker.

Mahindra claims the BE 6e trademark is registered under Class 12, specifically for vehicles, while InterGlobe Aviation (IndiGo Airlines) holds the “6E” mark under a separate class. The SUV maker asserts that its “BE 6e” trademark is distinct, emphasizing that it doesn’t conflict with IndiGo’s “6E”.

Interestingly, Mahindra highlighted a similar case from 2005 when Tata Motors objected to IndiGo’s name due to its similarity with its Indigo sedan. Mahindra believes this strengthens its stance against InterGlobe’s objection.

Specifications and Features

The Mahindra BE 6 will be available with two battery options: a 59kWh unit offering a 556km MIDC range and a larger 79kWh battery delivering an impressive 682km range. Positioned as Mahindra’s first born-electric SUV, it will compete directly with the Tata Curvv EV and the upcoming Hyundai Creta EV.

Launch Timeline

Deliveries for the BE 6 are scheduled to begin in late February or early March 2025, with the full price list expected in January 2025. The SUV is poised to attract attention with its futuristic design, spacious interiors, and competitive pricing.
