The much-anticipated Defender Octa SUV, a high-performance variant of the luxury SUV, has been unveiled by Land Rover. In India, the starting price of the Land Rover Defender Octa is ₹2.65 crore (ex-showroom). Additionally, the carmaker said that the Defender Octa Edition One will be available for an estimated ₹2.85 lakh (ex-showroom) during the first year of production.
The company has also disclosed that official bookings for the SUV will start soon. It hasn’t, however, disclosed an exact date. The Land Rover Defender Octa will be unveiled in public during the 2024 Goodwood Festival of Speed, which is set for July 11–14 of this year.
Although the high-performance variant of the SUV is built on the Land Rover Defender 110, it has some unique design features. The SUV has a larger stance, higher ride height and larger wheel arches, which together give it a more dominating and powerful appearance on the road. The SUV’s front and back bumpers have been modified to provide better approach and departure angles.
The new Land Rover Defender Octa is claimed to take the Defender 110’s performance to new heights. The SUV is powered by a powerful 4.4-litre twin-turbocharged mild-hybrid V8 engine, making the Defender Octa the most powerful Defender to date. An eight-speed automatic gearbox with high and low-range gears is linked to the engine. The engine can produce 750 Nm of maximum torque and 626 kW of peak power.
