Lamborghini has given Urus more zing by introducing a plug-in hybrid version of the performance SUV. The Lamborghini Urus PHEV, also known as the Urus SE, was unveiled by the Volkswagen Group as the electric version of the Italian performance car manufacturer’s best-selling model. It’s interesting to note that although plug-in hybrid vehicles often have smaller engines, this particular vehicle does not.
The Lamborghini Urus SE is powered by an electric motor along with the same 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged petrol engine. The electric motor, which is equipped with an eight-speed automatic transmission, has a maximum torque of 482 Nm and a peak power of 186 bhp. The electric powertrain produces 950 Nm of incredible torque at 1,750 rpm and 778 horsepower of maximum power at 6,000 rpm.
According to Lamborghini, the new Urus SE can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 0.1 seconds less than the Urus S. Reaching 100 kmph from a standstill takes 3.4 seconds. However, the Performante is still the quickest Urus, clocking in at 3.3 seconds. The new Urus SE accelerates from 0 to 200 kmph in 1.4 seconds, 1.1 seconds faster than the petrol-only variant and 0.1 seconds faster than the spicy Urus Performante. The new electric Urus can reach a high speed of 312 kmph flat out.
While the electric powertrain is the headline maker, Lamborghini has given the SUV a nip and tuck on the design front with modified matrix LED headlights with upgraded LED anytime running lights.
