Kia plans to introduce two new EVs that will sit at the opposite ends of its global lineup. The Korean brand has trademarked names EV1 through EV9, and while an EV2 was confirmed to sit below the EV3, the possibility of an EV1 has been ruled out until now.

According to Autocar UK, Kia will replace the ageing Picanto hatchback with an all-new electric city car known as the EV2. This model will be aggressively priced and launched after this decade.

Kia is also looking at developing a sporty EV car similar to the Stinger. The adaptability of electric skateboard frameworks, such as the E-GMP design that underpins models such as the EV6 and EV9, makes EVs more feasible due to higher component commonality throughout the range. As a result, such a flagship might come with all-wheel drive and more than 600 horsepower due to a dual-motor setup.

Kia presently offers the EV6 in India and plans to introduce the EV9 next month. The Carens EV is also under development and could go on sale next year.
