Kia India has officially teased its upcoming SUV, likely to be named the Kia Clavis, which is set to occupy a space between the popular Kia Seltos and the Sonet. As the first India-made SUV to feature Kia’s Design 2.0 philosophy under the Kia 2.0 strategy, the Clavis promises to bring fresh design elements and cutting-edge features to the Indian market.
Here’s what to expect in Kia Clavis
The Kia Clavis will showcase a bold and modern design language, with distinct features that set it apart from existing models in the market. Early sketches of the SUV reveal a unique side profile and rear design, moving away from traditional SUV styles to a more RV-inspired look, similar to the Kia Carens.
At the rear, the Kia Clavis stands out with a flat boot lid and striking L-shaped tail lights mounted on the upper half of the boot. The boxy shape, flat lines, and RV-inspired design language create an appealing blend of utility and aesthetics, making the Clavis a fresh addition to Kia’s portfolio.
While Kia has kept many details under wraps, spy shots of the Kia Clavis during road tests have revealed some interesting features. The SUV will be equipped with vertically stacked projector headlamps paired with vertical LED Daytime Running Lamps (DRLs) that give it a distinctive look. Additionally, the vehicle is expected to come with roof rails.
The Kia Clavis will likely be offered with both petrol and electric powertrains. Engine choices may include a 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine and a 1.5-litre diesel engine. The 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine produces 118 horsepower and torque of 172 Nm.
