Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) India has recorded its best-ever annual performance in FY25, retailing 6,183 units — a 40% year-on-year growth. Wholesale volumes also surged 39% to 6,266 units, marking a significant milestone in the luxury automaker’s 17-year journey in the Indian market.
Massive Q4 boost
The momentum was particularly strong in the fourth quarter of FY25. JLR retailed 1,793 units in Q4, a staggering 110% rise from the year-ago period. Wholesale volumes for the quarter came in at 1,710 units, up 118% YoY — the highest quarterly figures ever for JLR in India.
Defender leads the charge
A key driver of this growth has been the iconic Land Rover Defender, which saw a 90% jump in sales and emerged as the brand’s top-selling model.
Meanwhile, locally assembled Range Rover and Range Rover Sport models also gained traction, growing 72% and 42%, respectively. Local production helped reduce delivery wait times and overall costs, contributing to wider consumer adoption.
Customer experience initiatives paying off
JLR’s enhanced focus on customer experience continues to bear fruit. Initiatives like Defender Journeys — 45 curated drives involving over 500 customers — and nationwide service clinics have built deeper customer engagement. Additionally, 20–25% of buyers opted for the company’s 5-year maintenance plan, signaling trust in the ownership journey.
India-specific launches gain traction
Limited edition models like the Defender OCTA and Range Rover SV Ranthambore Edition — tailored specifically for Indian buyers — were sold out quickly, underlining growing demand for bespoke luxury experiences. The local assembly of flagship Range Rover models has further expanded accessibility.
Robust outlook for FY26
With a strong finish to FY25 and a presence in 21 Indian cities, JLR India is poised to enter FY26 with optimism. The company will continue to invest in electrification and customer-centric programmes, aligned with its global ‘Reimagine’ strategy.
