Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL), a leader in smart mobility solutions, is set to revolutionize its domestic lineup with made-in-India AGM (Absorbent Glass Mat) batteries from Amara Raja Energy & Mobility Limited (ARE&M). The move aligns with HMIL’s commitment to localization and innovation for Indian customers.
Key Features of AGM Battery Technology
- Advanced Technology: AGM batteries offer quick charging, durability, low maintenance, and enhanced energy efficiency, ideal for modern vehicles with ISG (Idle Stop and Go) systems.
- Eco-Friendly and Cost-Effective: This localization initiative reduces costs, lowers carbon footprints, and boosts local job creation.
- Proven Durability: AGM batteries outperform conventional CMF batteries by 150%, with better temperature resilience and lifespan, perfect for India’s diverse driving conditions.
- RDE-Compliant: Rigorously tested at Hyundai’s R&D center in South Korea, these batteries meet India’s emission standards.
Launching in Q4 FY 2024-2025, HMIL will be the first Indian auto OEM to adopt localized AGM technology. This effort supports over 194 vendors for 1,238+ components at its Chennai facility, with plans for further localization at the Talegaon plant.
