Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) has announced a recall for its popular Africa Twin adventure tourer motorcycle due to a potential issue with the ECU programming.

The Japanese two-wheeler manufacturer is taking this step to address a glitch that could affect the launch control system of the affected models. Produced between February 2022 and October 2022, these motorcycles may experience a malfunction in the throttle response, causing an unexpected activation of the wheelie control during acceleration. This could lead to a loss of balance, posing a risk of accidents for riders.

This recall affects not just the Indian market, but models around the world. Although the exact number of affected motorcycles hasn’t been disclosed, Honda has committed to correcting this issue at no cost for owners.

The necessary ECU update will be carried out at BigWing Topline dealerships, regardless of the warranty status of the motorcycles. Africa Twin owners can easily check if their bike is part of the recall by entering their unique vehicle identification number (VIN) on the official BigWing website.
