Tesla, the globally renowned electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer led by Elon Musk, has finalized its showroom space in Mumbai’s prestigious Maker Maxity, a mixed-use development situated in the Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC), as reported by HT.
As per the news portal, the showroom, spread across approximately 3,000 square feet on the ground floor of a commercial tower, has been secured at an unprecedented monthly rental of around ₹35 lakh.
BKC, recognized as India’s most expensive commercial real estate hub, has witnessed a series of high-value transactions, and Tesla’s leasing deal marks a milestone in the auto industry. HT sources suggested that this is possibly the highest showroom rental agreement recorded in the automotive sector to date.
In addition to the showroom space, the lease reportedly includes a few dedicated car parking slots, catering to Tesla’s high-end clientele. The showroom’s strategic location in Maker Maxity will allow Tesla to establish a strong brand presence in Mumbai, one of India’s prime luxury and business hubs.
While an official confirmation from Tesla is still awaited, this move aligns with the company’s broader strategy of expanding its footprint in India’s rapidly growing EV market. Tesla’s entry into the Indian market has been a topic of much anticipation, with discussions on local manufacturing and import duty regulations ongoing.
