Ferrari has begun road testing its first electric vehicle, which will be made at a newly built facility in Maranello, Italy. The first look of its test mule, which was equipped with parts from other vehicles, was seen on the outskirts of Maranello.
The final Ferrari EV will look entirely different from the test mule. It resembles a huge hatchback but is actually the bodyshell of a Maserati Levante SUV, featuring fake quad exhausts and a different-looking rear bumper. Things become much more fascinating up front with the botched-up Ferrari Roma headlamps. The test mule has much larger wheels than the normal Levante and a lower suspension.
According to a Reuters report, the Ferrari EV is scheduled for launch next year and is anticipated to cost more than USD 5,00,000 (about Rs 4.17 crore), before options. According to leaked patents, it will have two seats and an electric motor on each of the four wheels.
The new factory will be able to produce ICE, hybrid and electric vehicles, helping to increase annual production to almost 20,000 units.
