Eicher Motors has reported an impressive 20.1% year-on-year (YoY) growth in sales for its joint venture, Volvo Eicher Commercial Vehicles (VECV), in January 2025. The company sold 8,489 units, compared to 7,066 units in the same month last year, showcasing strong demand across various segments.
Strong Performance in January 2025
VECV recorded a total sales volume of 8,489 units in January 2025, marking a 20.1% growth compared to 7,066 units sold in January 2024. This positive momentum is attributed to higher domestic sales and robust export performance.
Eicher Trucks and Buses: A Key Growth Driver
The Eicher Trucks and Buses segment saw an overall growth of 21.3%, with total sales reaching 8,322 units in January 2025, compared to 6,858 units in January 2024.
Domestic Market Performance
The domestic segment contributed significantly, with a 21.1% increase in sales, totaling 7,872 units compared to 6,503 units in January 2024. Key highlights include:
- Light & Medium Duty (LMD) Trucks (3.5-18.5T): 3,787 units sold, up 17.9% from 3,211 units in January 2024.
- Heavy Duty (HD) Trucks (≥18.5T): 2,007 units sold, marking a 21.5% growth from 1,652 units in January 2024.
- LMD Bus Sales: 1,714 units, up 22.3% from 1,402 units in the previous year.
- HD Bus Sales: 364 units, recording the highest growth at 52.9% from 238 units in January 2024.
Exports: Exceptional Growth in Key Segments
Eicher’s export numbers saw a 26.8% growth, with 450 units shipped in January 2025, compared to 355 units in January 2024. The breakdown of export sales is as follows:
- LMD Trucks: 290 units, up 19.8% from 242 units last year.
- HD Trucks: 44 units, showing a massive 214.3% growth from 14 units in January 2024.
- Buses: 116 units exported, increasing 17.2% from 99 units last year.
Year-to-Date (YTD) Sales Performance: Positive Growth Trend
From April 2024 to January 2025, total VECV sales reached 69,975 units, reflecting a 4.6% increase from 66,894 units in the same period of the previous fiscal year.
- Total Eicher Trucks and Buses Sales: 67,963 units (+4.8%)
- Domestic Sales: 63,999 units, up 3.4% from 61,912 units.
- Exports: 3,964 units, reflecting an impressive 34.6% growth from 2,944 units.
- Volvo Trucks & Buses: Sales dipped slightly to 2,012 units, a 1.3% decline from 2,038 units.
