The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Mercedes-Benz India Private Limited to drive innovation, sustainability, and road safety in the country. The partnership aims to strengthen India’s manufacturing ecosystem while promoting responsible technological advancements.
Under this initiative, structured programs will be developed to support startups, providing them with essential infrastructure, mentorship, funding opportunities, and market linkages. Additionally, the collaboration will foster international partnerships to facilitate knowledge exchange and long-term impact.
Joint Secretary of DPIIT, Shri Sanjiv, emphasized that the partnership with Mercedes-Benz India will enhance industry-academia linkages and contribute to India’s goal of advancing in cutting-edge technology. He stated that this initiative is a strategic step toward developing a more sustainable and efficient manufacturing sector.
Mercedes-Benz India’s Managing Director, Shri Santosh Iyer, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, highlighting that the company’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) efforts will focus on road safety, environmental sustainability, and advanced manufacturing. Through this MoU, Mercedes-Benz India plans to work closely with incubators and institutions to drive meaningful societal change.
The agreement was formally signed by Director of DPIIT, Dr. Sumeet Kumar Jarangal, and Shri Santosh Iyer in the presence of senior officials from both organizations.
