Citroen India has begun delivery of its new Basalt coupe SUV in the nation. The first example was delivered to a client at a dealership in Delhi, the company said. Prices range from ₹7.99 lakh to ₹13.62 lakh (ex-showroom).

“The Basalt has already received an overwhelmingly positive response from customers, reflecting their appreciation for the innovation, comfort, and style that Citroën is known for,” stated Shailesh Hazela, MD & CEO of Stellantis India, as reported by HT Auto. He further added, “By actively listening to their needs and feedback, we ensure that every update in our product portfolio meets their evolving demands. We invite more people to experience the Basalt firsthand and discover what makes it a true representation of Citroën’s unique approach to automotive excellence.”

Citroen Basalt features

The Citroen Basalt features two engine options: 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol and turbo petrol. The naturally aspirated motor produces 80 horsepower and 115 Nm paired with the 5-speed manual gearbox. The 1.2-litre three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine produces 109 bhp and 190 Nm with the six-speed manual and 205 Nm with the torque converter automatic.

Citroen states that the 1.2 NA petrol model has a fuel efficiency of 18 kmpl, while the 1.2 turbo petrol manual returns 19.5 kmpl.

On the top model, the new Citroen Basalt has features like adjustable thigh support for second-row occupants, wraparound taillights, 16-inch alloy wheels, rear AC vents and LED projector headlights. It also has an automated temperature control system, a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Six airbags, ESC, a rear parking camera, TPMS and other features are included in the safety pack.
