On June 20, Bugatti will debut its latest hypercar, powered by a naturally aspirated hybrid V16. The company announced the date, saying its next-generation model will have a “completely bespoke” design inspired by the legendary Type 57 SC Atlantic, Type 41 Royale and Type 35 models. According to the brand’s news release, they “each lend their DNA to create a pure and authentic reinterpretation of the Bugatti brand”.

Bugatti revealed the design and configuration of the V16, as well as its roaring soundtrack, only a week after the brand’s famous W16 engine got a final farewell with the Chrion Super Sport L’Ultime.

In an interview given at the Financial Times Future of the Car conference in London, CEO Mate Rimac provided further information. Rimac disclosed that, in contrast to its W16 predecessor, which inhaled through four turbochargers, the massive engine operates without forced induction.

He continued by saying that the engine will be a massive one meter long on its own, 400 mm longer than the Chiron’s four-bank unit. In spite of this, the car will look like its predecessor in shape, according to Rimac. He stated, “The exterior is an evolution. You can still see the very distinct Bugatti design.”
