The BMW 5 Series, which the German giant has launched into the Indian market, is priced at Rs 72.90 lakh (ex-showroom). Later this year, another German vehicle, the Mercedes E-Class LWB, will be introduced and the long-wheelbase version of this vehicle will be a strong competitor.
BMW 5 Series LWB Features
A 2.0-liter, four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine with 258 horsepower and 400 Nm is offered only in the 530Li model, which also receives 48V mild hybrid assistance. Its eight-speed automatic transmission only powers the back wheels. BMW claims a 6.5-second 0–100 km/h time and a 250 km/h maximum speed.
Aside from the extended wheelbase (3,105mm) and a slightly modified rear door, the LWB and standard 5 Series appear similar. The India-spec vehicle has stylish headlights and taillights, a standard-sized BMW ‘kidney’ grille with illumination and long flowing lines. It has 18-inch wheels as standard, although 19-inch wheels are optional.
A 14.9-inch central touchscreen entertainment system and a 12.3-inch LCD instrument cluster are available in the car. Standard features include an 18-speaker, 655W Bowers & Wilkins sound system, six USB-C connections, matrix LED headlights, front-seat ventilation, leather upholstery with diamond-pattern quilting, and four zones of temperature control.
