BMW, the German luxury manufacturer, has confirmed that the Concept Skytop, which was revealed in May 2024 at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este, will go into production in limited quantities. The manufacturer announced that just 50 open-top V8 roadsters will be built. This follows the success of the 50 BMW 3.0 CSL revivals manufactured in 2022.

The BMW Skytop’s design has been strongly influenced by the BMW Z8, which debuted in the 1990s. With the Skytop, the manufacturer attempted to combine classic roadster appearance with modern technology. While the style has changed over time, the BMW Skytop features the platform of the BMW 8 Series.

The manufacture specification BMW Skytop will be powered by a 4.4-litre twin-turbo petrol V8 engine producing 617 bhp. The engine is paired with an eight-speed automated transmission and all-wheel drive. BMW boasts that the roadster can go from 0 to 100 kilometres per hour in 3.3 seconds.
