The new R 12 and R 12 nineT have been introduced to the Indian market by BMW Motorrad India. They cost ₹19.90 lakh and ₹20.90 lakh, respectively. Both prices are ex-showroom. BMW Motorrad will offer both bikes as Completely Built-up Units (CBU), with deliveries beginning in September 2024.
Both bikes have a frame supported by inverted forks in the front and a monoshock in the back, which is coupled to a single-sided swingarm. The R 12 nineT features fully adjustable front forks and a Paralever swinging arm at the back. Braking is provided by dual 320-disc brakes in the front with 4-piston monobloc brake calipers, as well as a single disc in the back. Furthermore, BMW Motorrad ABS Pro is included.
A 1,170 cc air/oil-cooled boxer engine powers the R 12 nineT and R 12. The R 12 nineT, produces 107 bhp at 7,000 rpm and a maximum torque output of 115 Nm at 6,500 rpm, while the R 12, produces 93 bhp at 6,500 rpm and a maximum torque of 110 Nm at 6,000 rpm. On the left side, the twin exhaust system is now installed.
Both bikes come with three riding modes as standard. They are Rain, Road and Dynamic. The R 12 nineT further has Rock and Roll mode. In addition, BMW Motorrad provides standard USB-C and 12 V socket, Dynamic Traction Control, engine drag torque control, keyless ride and new classic round instruments.
