Bajaj Auto emerged as India’s leading electric two-wheeler manufacturer in December 2024, surpassing Ola Electric and TVS Motor. According to the Vahan portal, Bajaj’s Chetak EV became the best-selling electric scooter, pushing TVS iQube to second place. In total, 73,316 electric two-wheelers were sold last month, with Bajaj contributing 18,276 units, securing a 25% market share in the segment.
Although Bajaj topped the December sales chart, Ola Electric maintained its leadership in annual sales, crossing the 4 lakh mark for the year. TVS Motor secured second place with over 2.20 lakh units sold, while Bajaj ended 2024 in third place with 1.93 lakh unit sales.
The Chetak EV’s strong performance was boosted by the launch of the Chetak 35 Series, featuring an upgraded platform and additional features. Priced at ₹1.20 lakh (ex-showroom), the new Chetak model is expected to further strengthen Bajaj’s position in the electric scooter market.
Ola Electric’s December sales were lower, with just 13,769 units sold, as it slipped to third place in the month’s rankings. Ather Energy also performed well, selling over 10,000 units.
In 2024, the electric two-wheeler segment in India saw 11.4 lakh unit sales, with Ola Electric holding the largest market share. The segment accounted for 59% of all EV sales in India.
