Bajaj Auto, the renowned Indian automotive manufacturer, has recently filed trademarks for two intriguing names – Swing and Genie. Speculations suggest that these trademarks could potentially be used for Bajaj’s upcoming two-wheelers, with a focus on electric rather than petrol-powered vehicles. Currently, Bajaj Auto offers only one electric scooter in its Indian lineup, known as the Chetak Electric. The company entered the electric two-wheeler segment in 2020 with the launch of this premium product. Initially available in Standard and Premium trims, the Chetak is now offered exclusively in the Premium variant.
Due to revised Fame-II (Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Electric Vehicles) subsidies, the Bajaj Chetak is now priced at Rs 1.44 lakh (ex-showroom, including revised Fame-II subsidy). The increase in price is a direct result of the government’s decision to reduce incentives for electric two-wheelers. Despite the price hike, the Bajaj Chetak remains a popular choice among electric scooter enthusiasts.
According to industry reports, Bajaj Auto is gearing up to expand the Chetak lineup in 2023, raising expectations for the launch of a higher-spec variant in the near future. As the demand for electric vehicles continues to rise, Bajaj Auto aims to further strengthen its presence in the electric two-wheeler segment by offering a wider range of options to cater to diverse consumer preferences.
While details about the speculated Swing and Genie models are still scarce, Bajaj Auto’s move to file trademarks indicates its commitment to innovation and the development of electric mobility solutions. As the industry shifts towards sustainable transportation, Bajaj Auto remains poised to deliver cutting-edge electric vehicles that combine performance, style, and environmental consciousness. Automotive enthusiasts and prospective buyers eagerly await further announcements from Bajaj Auto regarding its upcoming electric two-wheelers under the Swing and Genie names.
