Audi India has silently removed the A8 L sedan and RS5 Sportback from its website, signaling their discontinuation. Both models were offered as completely built imports (CBUs), with the A8 L priced at Rs 1.63 crore and the RS5 Sportback at Rs 1.13 crore (ex-showroom).
Audi A8 L Bids
The last iteration of the Audi A8 L debuted in July 2022 as a facelift of the fourth-generation model. Available in a long-wheelbase version, the luxury sedan was powered by a 340hp, 3.0-litre, turbo-petrol V6 engine with quattro all-wheel drive. Customers had the option of a 5-seat or an ultra-luxurious 4-seat configuration.
With the A8 L’s exit, the luxury limousine segment in India is now dominated by the Mercedes-Benz S-Class and BMW 7 Series/i7. The global A8 is nearing the end of its lifecycle, and its successor is expected to be an all-electric model, though its arrival remains some time away.
RS5 Sportback
Launched in August 2021, the Audi RS5 Sportback featured a 450hp, 2.9-litre, twin-turbo V6 engine. Unlike its two-door predecessor, the RS5 was a four-door Sportback, combining practicality with performance. The RS5’s discontinuation leaves the S5 as the sole A5-based model in Audi’s India lineup.
The A5 series has already transitioned to its next-generation globally, with an S5 variant included. An all-new RS5 is expected to join the lineup soon, potentially bringing new performance innovations.
