Since its official launch in the nation in 2007, Audi India has sold over a lakh vehicles, the company revealed on Thursday. Apart from Mercedes-Benz and BMW, the German automaker is one of the three major players in the Indian luxury automobile industry. Despite the luxury car market’s space being quite small in comparison to China, the US and several European nations, Audi has managed to establish itself in this market.
Even though Audi vehicles were present on Indian roads for many years, they entered the country via customs route. After launching its operations in the nation in 2007, Audi India sold about 350 vehicles in that specific year.
Models such as the Audi A4 provided the brand with its first push, but SUVs like the Q3 and Q3 Sportback are still the main players today. As opposed to sedans, SUVs currently make up over 60% of the company’s portfolio, meaning that premium SUV models like the Q7 and Q8 are also quite prominent.
