Ashok Leyland, the flagship of the Hinduja Group and India’s leading commercial vehicle manufacturer, has secured a significant order of 1,937 buses from Tamil Nadu State Transport Undertakings (TNSTU). This milestone reinforces the company’s long-standing partnership with TNSTU and its dominant position in the bus industry.
The new buses, built on the latest iGen6 BS VI technology, include fully built and chassis configurations for town, mofussil, and SETC applications. Equipped with AIS 153-compliant chassis, they ensure enhanced safety, structural integrity, ride comfort, and reliability.
Models like Viking and SETC deliver superior performance, safety, and passenger comfort. Urban Low Entry and Semi Low Floor buses feature air suspension, auto transmission, optimized floor heights, and wheelchair ramps, ensuring smooth commuting for all passengers. High-speed Mofussil and SETC buses come with Electronic Stability Control for improved safety.
With over 21,000 Ashok Leyland buses already in TNSTU’s fleet, this new order strengthens the company’s global and domestic leadership. Ashok Leyland remains the 4th largest bus manufacturer worldwide and India’s largest, reflecting its commitment to innovation and sustainable public transport solutions.
