
The transaction count of NETC FASTag witnessed sharp jump of 54% as compared to previous two months. Under the National Electronic Toll Collection (NETC) programme the NETC FASTag crossed 86 million in July 2020, said National Payment Corporation of India.
In July 2020 with transaction value of Rs 1623.30 crore, the transaction count of NETC FASTags stood at 86.26 million compared to transaction count of 81.92 million and a transaction value of Rs 1511.93 crore in June 2020.
Addressing the progress the Praveena Rai, Chief Operating Officer of NPCI said, “We are glad to witness NETC FASTags scaling new heights within 4 years of its inception. The interoperability of NETC FASTag has helped millions of vehicle owners get the seamless toll plaza experience. We at NPCI strive to make contactless, hassle-free and convenient toll payments. We are confident that NETC FASTag will se an increased adoption in the future as it is also venturing into the state highways, city toll plazas and parking lots, enabling digital contactless Toll payment facility to local city residents as well.”
In the major cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Bengaluru NPCI recently annouced the expansion of its 100% contactless and Interoperable Parking Solution with NETC FASTag. Hyderabad International Airport is quickly launched the first of its kind contactless car parking facility with NETC FASTag to offer 100% contactless and safer parking payments experience for travellers.
NETC FASTag is very easy to use, the vehicle with NETC FASTag not required to stop at toll plaza for toll payment, It has reloadable tag fixed on the widescreen of a vehicle enabling it as automatic deduction of toll charges from the linked prepaid or saving account while the vehicle is in motion. A user receive the SMS alerts on his registered mobile number for all the transaction done in his tag account, saving fuel and travel time.
From 1st December 2019 NETC FASTag is compulsory at all National Highway Toll plaza. NETC FASTag can be purchased at toll plazas, select bank branches and online through e-commerce platforms. It can be recharged online through all payment channels including UPI, BBPS and cards.
