BMW India has officially launched the seventh-generation M5, a high-performance plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV), following its global debut in June 2024. Priced at Rs 1.99 crore (ex-showroom), the new M5 is a completely built-up (CBU) unit and offers a thrilling blend of power, luxury and cutting-edge technology.

2025 BMW M5 Features

The 2024 BMW M5 is powered by a 4.4-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine, delivering 577 bhp and 750 Nm of torque. Complementing this is an electric motor that adds 194 bhp and 280 Nm, bringing the total output to a staggering 717 bhp and 1,000 Nm of torque. The powertrain is mated to an 8-speed M Steptronic automatic transmission, enabling the sedan to reach 0-100 kmph in just 3.5 seconds.

Equipped with a 22.1 kWh battery (18.6 kWh usable), the M5 offers an all-electric range of up to 70 km (WLTP), making it a versatile option for daily commutes. BMW claims that the battery can be fully charged in about 3 hours and 15 minutes using a 7.4 kW AC charger.

The cabin of the new M5 is designed to offer luxury and technology at its best. It features a redesigned three-spoke flat-bottom steering wheel with M-specific buttons, along with curved twin screens with custom BMW M graphics. Standard equipment includes four-zone automatic climate control, heated front seats, ambient lighting with M-specific themes, a panoramic glass roof and a Bowers & Wilkins audio system, enhancing the driving experience.
