Zhong Shanshan, a bottled water and vaccine tycoon, dethroned Jack Ma and became China’s wealthiest person. His net worth has now reached $58.7 million which is $2 million more than Jack Ma, according to Bloomberg Billionaires Index. He is now Asia’s second richest person and is now the 17th richest person overall, leaving behind Charles Koch and Phil Knight.
Zhong’s fortune rose $52 billion in 2020 and this is more than anyone else in the world except Amazon.com Inc.’s Jeff Bezos and Tesla Inc.’s Elon Musk.
Earlier this month, Zhong was included in China’s top three richest personalities list. This came after the April listing of vaccine maker Beijing Wantai Biological Pharmacy Enterprise Co.pushed his net worth to $20 billion by earlier August, as reported by Mint. Nongfu Spring Co. is Hong Kong’s most popular among retail investors and Mr Zhong now leads a wealth ranking in China which is normally over powered by people who prospered from tech companies.
