Why was Rahul Gandhi detained by Delhi Police in Vijay Chowk?

Rahul Gandhi was detained by the Delhi Police during the protest at the Vijay Chowk in Delhi.

Rahul Gandhi, the leader of the Congress, was held by the Delhi Police on Tuesday after he and several parliamentarians condemned the Central government. Following Sonia Gandhi’s interrogation by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the absence of debate on crucial topics like price increases in Parliament, Congress MPs staged a protest march from Parliament House to the Rashtrapati Bhavan.

The Delhi Police, however, stopped the parliamentarians in their tracks close to Vijay Chowk as they were on their way toward President Droupadi Murmu to deliver a message.

The police officers could be seen dragging the female Congress lawmakers before loading them into a bus.

There, a bus was used to transport Rahul Gandhi and the other lawmakers.

Mallikarjun Kharge, the leader of the opposition. And other protesting leaders declared their desire to visit President Murmu and inform her of a number of issues. Including the abuse of investigation agencies, particularly to target the Opposition members.

“This government is making the Parliament a mockery. We want to give a memorandum to the President of India,” Venugopal said.
