He became an active member of the Panjab University Campus Students Council in 2011 with which he had the opportunity to work along Goldy Brar. That defined their relationship from university politics to criminal deeds.

Salman is one of the most famous people on Bishnoi’s radar. Although Bishnoi’s gang has threatened the actor several times and there have been several tries to assassinate him. It was the year 2018, when a man tried to kill the actor but failed and later named Bishnoi to be the mastermind behind the whole plot.

To this date, half of the seven cases have been dismissed and three of them are ongoing, though he was acquitted of all four charges preferred against him. By 2013, Bishnoi was become infamous, being accused to several murders including that of a winner of the Government College electoral race in Muktsar. A report sent by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) analyzed connections between Lawrence Bishnoi, Goldy Brar, and pro-Khalistan groups which causes concerns about a possibility of politically motivated organized crime. Bishnoi rose to fame in 2018 when his partner, Sampath Nehra, reconnoiter Bollywood star Salman Khan’s home. Nehra testified that he was told to gun down Khan because of the actor’s involvement in the Black Buck poaching saga. In an encounter with the media during a court appearance in Jodhpur, Bishnoi threatened Salman in pretty raw language, claimingly that he will be killed in Jodhpur.
