India’s richest man – Mukesh Ambani, chairman of Reliance Industries Ltd. have already put in motion the future of his entity by entrusting his and Nita Ambani’s children with individual subsidiary ownership. While Akash Ambani is heading Reliance Jio, Isha Ambani leading the Reliance’s Retail wing, and Anant Ambani is heading Reliance Energy.
Under the guidance of Isha, Reliance Retail has been one of the most successful subsidiaries of the conglomerate and it continues to grow each year, especially in the luxury sector. Similar to her father, who has his right hand Manoj Modi, the heiress also has key a key person who helps her run her company.
Isha Ambani’s right hand is Darshan Mehta, President and CEO of Reliance Retail. As per the Economic Times, RRVL’s (Reliance Retail Venture Limited) pre-money equity valuation stands at Rs 8.3 lakh crore as of August 2023. Mehta has been the first employee of Retail Brands, founded in 2006. According to his LinkedIn profile, Mehta has remained the President and CEO since 2008.
As per the data available on the website, Reliance Retail has bough 85 international brands to India, including Burberry, Versace, Bottega Veneta, Valentino, Marks & Spencer, Balenciaga, Jimmy Choo, Pottery Barn, Tiffany & Co., Pret a Manger, and more. As per a report in DNA India, Mehta is responsible for bringing brands such as Nautica, Tommy Hilfiger, and Gant to India alongside introducing Ermenegildo Zegna, Brooks Brothers, and Diesel to the nation.
