The United States President Donald Trump called for the postponement of the 2020 Presidential Elections in the country. The president has claimed that the results of the elections might be compromised due to a fraud as a result of mail-in voting.
Donald Trump, who is standing for the second time as a Republican candidate, took Twitter, on Thursday, calling for a postponement of the US presidential elections which are scheduled to happen in the month of November.
With Universal Mail-In Voting (not Absentee Voting, which is good), 2020 will be the most INACCURATE & FRAUDULENT Election in history. It will be a great embarrassment to the USA. Delay the Election until people can properly, securely and safely vote???

He stated that the Universal Mail-in voting system would result in “the most INACCURATE & FRAUDULENT Election in the history of United States. He also asserted that it will be a “great embarrassment” to the country.
Various media agencies, however, have reported that there has not been even a single case or a possibility of such an event happening as a result of the Mail-in voting system. As per BBC, there is little evidence to support Mr. Trump’s claims but he has been against mail-in voting, which he now claims, is vulnerable to fraud.
As per the constitution of the country, Trump does not have the authority to postpone the election himself. For any such delay or postponement, the Congress would have to pass an act and only then can the date of the elections be altered.
As per the president, the elections should be held at a time when people can “safely, securely and properly” vote. Donald Trump, in one of his earlier statements, has quoted that remote voting options would pose the “biggest risk” to his re-election.
It is also imperative note that Trump has not been able to take the lead in following the WHO guidelines to regulate the Coronavirus pandemic. The president also hosted a rally at Mount Rushmore on the 4th of July and it has been reported that social distancing and WHO guidelines were not followed at the event.
The United States so far has recorded the highest number of Coronavirus cases in the world.
