Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray has officially resigned from his post as the Chief Minister of the State of Maharashtra ending his tenure voluntarily. He was the 19th Chief Minister of Maharashtra who served from November 2019 to June 2022.
In his statement, Uddhav Thackeray said, “I am resigning as the Chief Minister. I am not the one to be scared, but rather than spilling blood of the Shiv Sainiks on the streets, I will step down”.

The Supreme Court has clearly said in its decision that Maharashtra’s Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government will have to face a floor test in the Assembly scheduled on Thursday which is tomorrow.
Tomorrow’s floor test would have ended Uddhav Thackeray’s tenure involuntarily. Since, there was a confirmed 2/3rd majority against his government. Which would have dissolved his established administration forcing him out of power.
Inheriting power from his father the founder of Shiv Sena, Bal Keshav Thackeray, Uddhav Thackeray became the President of the party and still holds the position as President.
It seems that an abdication was better a victory for Uddhav Thackeray who has informed that his duty to the people will continue.
