SSC Recruitment Scam: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) found cash worth around Rs 21.21 crores, ornaments, foreign currencies and documents. Further, which was from a close aide of Trinamool congress’s Industry Minister Partha Chatterjee and actress Arpita Mukherjee’s apartment in South Kolkata. Moreover, Chatterjee, the state Parliamentary Affairs, Commerce and Industry, and Electronics & IT Minister, earlier held the education portfolio.
Therefore, Chatterjee and Mukherjee were arrested today morning following a stringent interrogation for more than 26 hours in the SSC Recruitment Scam.
Anindya Raut, Chatterjee’s advocate said. “Yes, he has been arrested. We have not been given the seizure list or the arrest memo yet. He will be produced in court today. We have been asked to come to CGO Complex”.
SSC Recruitment Scam was common knowledge
Commenting on the arrest, West Bengal Congress chief AR Chowdhury stated, “Everyone in Bengal knew about this (scam). After the court’s intervention, investigation agencies started acting upon it. We want culprits to be punished.”
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is investigating about the alleged irregularities committed in the recruitment of Group-C and D staff as well as teachers in government-sponsored and aided schools on recommendations of the West Bengal School Service Commission.
The ED mentioned in a tweet. “ED is carrying out search operations at various premises linked to recruitment scam. In the West Bengal School Service Commission and West Bengal Primary Education Board.”
Hence, proceedings continue.
