Chandro Tomar, very popularly known as ‘Shooter Dadi’, was admitted to a private hospital in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh due to Covid-19 related health issues. She was earlier admitted to the ICU because of breathing issues.
The 89-year-old Chandro Tomar breathed her last in the hospital in Meerut, today. Well, she has been a renowned sharpshooter who was also recognized as the oldest professional sharpshooter in the world.
Dadi Chandro Tomar, who belonged to UP’s Baghpat, took up shooting at the age of 60 and won a number of medals in several tournaments across India.
Tomar even inspired a Bollywood movie named ‘Saand ki Aankh’. Actresses like Taapsee Pannu and Bhumi Pednekar, who played the quintessential roles in the movie, lament over the unfortunate demise of Shooter Dadi and pay tribute & condolences.

Furthermore, actress Bhumi Pednekar writes on Twitter, “Devastated by the news of Chandro Dadi’s demise. Feels like a part of me is gone. She made her own rules and paved the path for many girls to find their dream. Her legacy will live on in them. Condolences to the family. Am lucky I got to know and be her”.
