Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee’s ‘rail roko’ agitation continues in Amritsar, in protest against Farm laws. The Committee’s agitation will continue till 5th October. The farmers under the banner of Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee have been squatting on rail tracks at various places in the state since September 24.
The farmers have decided to intensify their protests and phase two of the protest has begun on Thursday, October 1, with the farmers’ union extending the ‘rail roko’ stir for an indefinite period. As decided, a total of 31 unions have been staging ‘rail roko’ protests at 24 more places in Punjab from Thursday, of which nearly a dozen have been in Malwa, nearly eight places in Majha and the rest in Doaba. The protesters are demanding the rollback of the three “anti-farmer” legislations.
Farmers under the banner of KMSC in Punjab have been protesting against the new agriculture laws regulated by the Centre, with the unions saying that they will actually lead to the dismantling of the minimum support price (MSP) system. Several farmer unions have also formed a seven-member panel to coordinate with a committee of artistes in Punjab over a campaign against the Central government.
