Delhi HC asks Ashneer Grover and family members to submit bank statements without 4 weeks

The Delhi High Court has requested Ashneer Grover, former MD of BharatPe, along with his wife Madhuri Jain Grover and certain family members, to submit copies of their bank account statements for a specific period in a sealed cover within four weeks. The court was addressing an application by Resilient Innovations Private Limited, the creator of the BharatPe app, seeking bank statements from July 1, 2018, to April 31, 2022.

This application is part of an ongoing lawsuit where Resilient Innovations seeks a “permanent injunction” against Grover and family members from making defamatory statements against the company, its directors, and employees. During the hearing, the defendants expressed no objection to providing the bank account copies in a sealed cover, with a condition that Resilient Innovations assures not to share the contents with any third party.

Justice Rekha Palli disposed of the application, directing the defendants to submit the documents in a sealed cover within four weeks. A copy will be given to Resilient Innovations, contingent on them filing an affidavit of undertaking within two weeks. Another application by Grover and his wife, requesting certain documents from BharatPe, will be addressed later, pending a status report from the Economic Offences Wing of the Delhi Police in a separate matter.

Earlier this year, the Economic Offences Wing had filed an FIR against Grover and family members, alleging misappropriation of funds and causing losses of Rs 81 crore to Resilient Innovations. Grover has filed a petition seeking the quashing of the FIR, which is pending before the high court. The lawsuit is scheduled for the next hearing on February 12, 2024.
