Congress MP Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, caused a huge uproar by calling President Droupadi Murmu “Rashtrpatni.” The argument started after a video of Lok Sabha Congress leader emerged in which he was heard referring to President Droupadi Murmu as “Rashtrapatni.” Later on, though, he described it as a “slip of the tongue” and an “error.”
BJP leader lodges FIR
The BJP workers have refuted his justification of him being a Bengali and not being used to Hindi and have claimed that he used this word deliberately. The workers demand a formal apology from party chief Sonia Gandhi.
In Madhya Pradesh, all the BJP district offices have arranged protests and ‘dharnas’ state-wide. In Bhopal a protest at Minto Hall has been organized in front of the Gandhi statue. Several senior politicians and leaders participated in the protest.
Om Prakash Dhurve, the BJP leader who lodge an FIR against MP Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury said that the Congress leader’s statement were offensive. Further, that he had insulted the Tribal Community.
The state’s chief minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan joined in to criticise the Congress leader. “She (Droupadi Murmu) comes from a tribal background. She has attained the highest office in the country. And his statement is an insult to the person sitting at the highest office of the nation. “
“This is also an insult to feminism. An insult to our sisters and an insult to the tribal communities of India. And the people will never forget this humiliation”. Chauhan added.
He also slammed Congress by saying that Congress has an anti-woman and an anti-tribal mentality.
Chauhan demanded Sonia Gandhi apologizes to the whole nation and the honorable Madam President over her party member’s remarks. Hence, he also stated that the nation will not forget about such humiliating and insulting comments.
