Umar was first arrested on 13th September by the Delhi Police, held for conspiracy in the riots under the stringent Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).
 
                  
A Delhi court on Sep 24 sent former JNU student Umar Khalid to judicial custody till 22nd October in connection with his alleged involvement in the violence in Northeast Delhi.
 
                  
Khalid was presented before Additional Sessions Judge Amitabh Rawat, Karkardooma district court, through video conferencing.
